According to HRDC (Human Resources Development Canada), a Bookkeeper is defined as someone who maintains a complete set of books, keeps records of accounts, verifies the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provides professional bookkeeping services. The term bookkeeper refers to a person who can complete a full set of books up to, and including, a trial balance.
Why do you need a bookkeeper?
Bookkeeping is a cornerstone of success for any business. Without good bookkeeping practices, you will never truly know the financial health and growth of your company. Bookkeeping brings about financial order, informs all decisions about your business, and facilitates your growth and expansion.
Leave it all to us! We will manage your full accounting cycle. Great for startups and small businesses not ready to hire accounting staff.
Always know where you stand financially!
Just starting out? Or, kind of a mess? We'll properly set up your chart of accounts and reassign transactions as appropriate, then show you how to maintain your books.
We will review your current bookkeeping practices and resource utilization, followed by an in-depth review of your company's Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, and Financial Statements. You will receive a Bookkeeping Health Assessment outlining what's working great, what's not working so well, any incorrect practices and recommended remedies, along with our suggestions for improvement.
If requested, we can also provide a proposal for our services that would most suit your current needs.
We will ensure that your GST, PST and special industry sales taxes are tracked and recorded correctly, and then prepare and file your sales tax returns so you are always compliant. Monthly, Quarterly or Annual Filings can be accommodated.
It's SUPER important to reconcile bank and credit card accounts to ensure that your financial transactions are all accounted for. There are also a number of accounts that should be reconciled on a periodic basis, such as Petty Cash, Owner's Equity, Shareholder's Loans, etc. You cannot know the financial status of your business if there are mistakes buried within your transactions, and reconciling those accounts is really the only way to highlight those errors.
The A/R and A/P functions can typically be managed in-house by an accounting clerk or an admin/support person. However, if you're not ready to hire staff with the accompanying overhead and office space, we're happy to do it for you. We will do your customer invoicing and statements and ensure that all of your supplier obligations are properly recorded and tracked. This could be a stand-alone service or an add-on to "The Whole Shebang".
